| I'm using Windows XP Home Edition and have 6 accounts established (4 family members, guest and owner). Do I need to run Adaware, Spybot, SpyBlaster, etc. while logged on as each individual account? Is there any way to run for all accounts? I fixed a major problem a week ago using Hijackthis, installed the recommended software, and now the problem seems to be recurring. Could this have something to do with the multiple accounts? |

| I also have XP Home with multiple accounts (2) and Spybot S&D. Spybot scans yield different results in each account on my computer suggesting that the program scans the browser files, etc., for only the user who has logged in. If there is a way to search multiple accounts at once, I haven't found it. |

Thanks for the advice and link, TeMerc. This may be very naive, but I've never really thought about using HijackThis. We're firewalled and have an antivirus program and are pretty careful. The Spybot scans have listed a few things (like the Alexa toolbar), but nothing we haven't been able to identify and deal with pretty simply. I guess I'm in "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" mode at present.
I did go to the Spyware Warrior HJTlog forum and use the links to some of the tutorials. Sounds like HijackThis could be very useful, if dangerous in the hands of neophytes like me. If ever our system starts acting suspiciously flaky, this is the first place I'll come to. |
