As someone who has seen far too many scams;

There are many bogus or unqualified anti-malware sites poping up everywhere so I have a few questions for you since I don't recognize you as someone with an established web presence in the pri/sec community. Do you have any credentials in the anti-malware industry?

Suzi is a relative 'new comer' but I've known her and her work for several years and I know most of the staff that was put together from her relationships developed in the community. Sorry but I've just never heard of you before. That doesn't really mean anything but it is something that makes the hair stand up on my neck.

"Programs To use to get rid of spyware"

I'm curious as to your experience with application support and to what devs you are associated with. Please elaborate some.

Inquiring minds want to know Smile

I ran a search to find your handle...to see if you were known anywhere. The only ref to 'Cruesink' I found were other boards being spammed where you also have no history;

http://www.security-forums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18223

Even without knowing your credentials, I already don't like your lack of netiquette.

JMO

Do you really think you can get qualified folks to leave their work here to spend time on a new board that noone has ever even heard of?

Hi Cruesink , this is just my opinion also , but If youre truly interested in fighting these criminals , then there are already plenty of established fourms that can use the extra help , instead of creating another splinter group to add to the confusion.

Cruesink, I think your goal is admirable and in my opinion, the more info on the net about fighting spyware and malware, the better to help educate netizens.

My advice would be to first educate youself by hanging out at the various well established sites, like spywareinfo.com, wilders security, cexx, Tom Coyote, net-integration, Computer Cops, etc. (Not an all inclusive list) Do a lot of reading. Develop some relationships with people, perhaps join Boot Camp and The Classroom, post and become involved at a few sites. Once you are knowledgable, then you can begin to put together some of your own content for your site. Once people see that you have something worthwhile started, then some will join you and you can build from there.

I like the logo on your index page.

Good day. I'm a member of SFDC (Security Forms Dot Com) - in fact
I'm mod there and I can vouch for cruesinks' authenticity.

I have been communicating extensively with cruesink off board for
some time since I saw his online petition. In fact I recommended
that he get involved in anti-spyware efforts around the net - find
out about communities such as Spyware Warrior, SFDC,
ComputerCops, CEXX etc.

The man is not a fraud and his efforts are honorable. His lack of
netiquette is another thing entirely. I broke his chops over at
SFDC
and in a personal email. Twisted Evil
Interestingly my advice to him is virtually identical to suzi's Cool

Personally I believe we need more efforts like his to unite the anti-
spyware efforts around the net. I have been in contact with
administration of ComputerCops and Wilders discussing this very
issue.

Here is the [slightly scrubbed] contents of my post
in the SFDC Mods section discussing the topic:

Preface this saying I had already contacted Wilders
Adminsitration requesting discussions.

Quote:
An admin from Wilders has contacted me, has taken an SFDC account,
and is looking around. Seems to be good people.

Interesting discussions. I'll quote PMs here to fill you all in.

Quote:
Wilders Admin:
................... Our thought has been and remains that a large
combination of resources from multiple HJT Log forums is actually what's
needed to make a serious go of this. Volumes keep rising and complexity
of fixes gets harder and harder.

Quote:
Mongrel
My thoughts exactly. I have long thought this to be the only true solution
that will help really bring these morons to their knees - a larger, more
intelligent and informed group than they, who can identify and eradicate
their garbage before it even becomes a real problem.

.......

For the long term I'd love to help in politicking through all the forums
and form some large group of pros. I envision some site where a
common database of fixes, utilities, and closed discussions between
helpers occur to help unify the efforts. I'd also see groups of helpers
specializing in certain types of exploits and open referrals among the
groups - one to the other. Development of new utilities would play huge
here as well.

......

This is where the combining comes into play I think. The longer term
formation of this large group you discussed.

I was hoping that with the support of one other group, such as
yourselves, we may have a start to this goal.

What do you think SFDC could do to to help get rolling toward this end?
How could we combine with Wilders in this effort?
To get the first effort underway and gain some good PR among other
helpers such that they would want to join forces?

Well it's good to see that myself, PCWriter and meeeeeeeeee are not the
only ones whose vision includes one large entity working towards the end
of spyware management/eradication.

Any ideas from the group as to how SFDC could be involved? How we
may make a go of it with a partner such as Wilders?

I can assure you that I am legit and if you'd be interested in
entertaining some joint venture I would like to talk to you.

If you'd like to verify who I am you can take an accout at SFDC and
contact Mongrel - I'll provide any info needed to cross reference my
identity here to mine there.

Best regards - outside_in

Hey Mongrel, thx for the heads up.

In answer to your PM; yea I'm the same guy. Smile

(I PMed Mongrel over at SFDC to get the low down on this. Sorry, I'm the nosey type. Smile )

I'll mention it here too that I find the SFDC site quite nice, friendly, and informative. You guys do well over there.

As for Cruesink, I think Suzi has the plan...get involved in various pri/sec endeavors as the ropes are learned. The malware situation in the world....and you must think globally...is a massive issue and all are welcome and encouraged to do their part.
