Hi i opened a topic in virus worms and trojan alert, asking for help with my daughters laptop but now i see we arent supposed to ask for help there, can some tell me where i should post to get the help i need with cleaning her laptop.

Ok slight problem i started it up just now and was about to search for the forum here and it went blue screen and restarted so im now starting it in safe mode, dont know if i will be able to do anything like this.

| started it in safe mode and it wont connect to the internet, it says its because its in safe mode. so can i download what i need from my computer and then put it on cd and install it from the cd then transfer results to the cd and post here, will that work? |

Hi, try this.
Restart your computer and start tapping F8.
When the options appear chose safe mode with networking.
Once done see if you can connect to the internet.

ok i will try that but every time i get half way through doing something it goes to the blue screen and then restarts, i was just half way through installing hjt from a cd and it crashed again.
forgot to say i cant install it in safe mode it wont allow the installer to run. i can see this is going to be a long and hard job to fix |

Hi,
If you continue having problems with Blue screen crashes try this.
- Turn the computer on, and begin tapping the F8 key (if this doesn't work try the F5 key).
- When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, use the ARROW keys to select Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked), and then press ENTER.

| i took it back to the last known good configuration and as soon as i tried to install hjt it blue screened again. |
