|
|
I am worried that my router/modem could get infected with a virus/trojan/malware/bad thing. I am also worried that if an infection could happen that it could infect the firmware, so even if I reset the router/modem the infection would be there. My questions are:
1. Can routers/modems get infected?
2. Can the firmware get infected so even if I reset the router/modem the infection would be there?
3. How can I keep my router/modem safe?
NOTE: I would just like to know, and I am NOT asking because I think I have a problem. I would just like light shed on this. Thank you. |

Yes, routers have been affected by malware.
Safe?
Well, use common sense and safe practices.
Be sure that your router's user name and password is unique.
Don't download from untrusted locations (P2P, cracks, etc).
Read about apps before deciding to DL and use.
Be aware of what processes normally run in your sys and monitor/manage them. Malware can't infect if it can't initiate.
Basically, just do what you would normally do to protect your sys. _________________ -
