hi
im not sure where to post this but ive been having a problem with my laptop this keeps coming up windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close .My internet explorer isnt working and will not connect to the internet but my firefox browser does .
can someone help

Hi trace,

The first thing to do is to make sure your IE is fully updated ... are you using IE6 or IE7?

Use Windows Update to bring it up-to-date (and update to IE7 if need be) as this could be something that has already been addressed by Microsoft.

A friend of mine had a similar problem a few weeks ago when going to Yahoo!, and I noticed that his PC didn't have Java or Flash .... it seemed that it crashed whenever he tried to go to any site that used the Flash plug-in.

Let us know how it goes.

yes i did install from windows update the latest internet explorer 7.
i have flash and java but the problem at the moment is it shows im not connected to the internet and says do settings but everything looks ok the way its set. im using fire fox ok and go wireless with my laptop. but as you must know some times you have to use internet explorer for somethings . at first the laptop wouldnt open properly it would open 2 things on start up and get stuck but now it seems better since ive scanned with spybot .It did pick up alot of things as well.Ive scanned with a lots of prorams .A squared 2. a squared anti-dialer . avg antispyware.cw shredder . adaware se.
