Hi:
This is my first time on anything like this, but I am compelled to write after doing research on Enternet Media Inc. I found out what they are all about and I thought someone might be interested.

Their office in Woodland Hills was raided yesterday by 7 policemen and 5 people in suits. I can only speculate, but they were there all day and took a bunch of stuff out. I heard the words "injuction"and "putting key corporate information under a fictitions business name".

Maybe this will be one less company out there with no conscience.

Interesting. Thanks for posting that.

It sounds like you live close by where this happened.

No. I know all this because I work directly across from that office, about 20 feet away, in an open courtyard, and could see all this, but only caught snippets of conversation. The door to the office was kept wide open all day.

Hmm.. very interesting. I just set a Google news alert for Enternet Media in case something comes out on this.

In case anyone doesn't know about Enternet Media, they are the folks behind the notorious Elitebar/SearchMiracle.

They also are the makers of a rogue anti-spyware app, Spyware Bomber. Details here:

Quote:
An operation that uses the lure of free lyric files, browser upgrades, and ring tones to download spyware and adware on consumers’ computers has been ordered to halt its illegal downloads by a U.S. District Court at the request of the Federal Trade Commission. The court also halted the deceptive downloads of an affiliate who helped spread the malicious software by offering blogs free background music. The music code downloaded by the blogs was bundled with a program that flashed warnings to consumers who visited the blog sites about the security of their computer systems. Consumers who opted to upgrade by clicking, downloaded the spyware onto their computers. The court has frozen the organization’s assets pending a further hearing. The FTC will seek to bar the deceptive and unfair practices permanently and require the operators to give up their ill-gotten gains.

This great news is from ARS Technica.

Quote:
Enternet Media, Inc. and Conspy & Co. Inc, based in California, and Iwebtunes, based in Ohio, had their assets frozen after being found to have distributed spyware that "piggybacked" on top of free offerings, such as ring tones, music software and utility programs, as well as a fake "security patch" for Microsoft's Internet Explorer. The spyware tracked users' Internet activities, changed their home pages, and deluged them with endless streams of pop-up advertisements.
