Hi All, my first post. I have been on line for about a year and a half, theres still much to learn. I had to do a destructive recovery about 10 months ago so I'm a little paranoid, been a good boy keep all my spy-ware and AVG up to-date but lately I've been getting more and more spam (about 3 or 4 a day, I know this is mild for some) and since the 18th I've gotten 30 Trojan Horses (one as I was typing this) , So my question is, is this normal or is someone REALLY out to get me (LOL)? Just visited Suzi's site will be using that info.

My AVG did not show any infection even though the mail scanner was detecting and quarantining them, I just ran a Trend Micro scan which found a MS BLASTER.C worm and eliminated it. I went to MS site and found that it is an old worm. When I tried to download a patch it indicated that I already had it. Any idea whats going on.
Thanks Jim |

I think I have it cleaned up now. In the process of looking for answers I learned about "Spamfighter" software it looks like a good product.
Thanks Jim |

| To be honest, you'll get all kinds of garbage in the mail and its being used more and more as an attack vector. a while back, there was a mail doing the rounds which (when opened) infected the system with Adware. I'll see if I can dig the story out... |

lathegear, you might want to post a HijackThis log in that forum if you're not sure if you are clean. _________________ Former Microsoft MVP 2005-2009, Consumer Security

Thanks Suzi, I've already run a HJT log and fixed some problems, everything seems to be OK, I haven't noticed any problems and I'm using Firefox. BUT (lol) I'm still getting 2 to 4 spams with trojans a day, so far as I know AVG is catching all of them.
Thanks Jim |
