Welcome to Spyware Warrior forums.

Not much going on here really, were you experiencing any problems? Let us know.

Please look over the following entries I have listed, check the boxes next to them and press the "Fix Checked" button with HijackThis. When you are doing this, make sure you have No IE windows, or other browsers open, including this one. Reboot if I have specified below, and post a fresh HijackThis log.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ICC2000] 1

Reboot, into safe mode, this way:
Turn on the computer
Immediately begin tapping the <F8> key.
Use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode and press the <Enter> key.

Also, enable the 'Show Hidden Folders' option, like this:
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

And search for, then delete, if found, (some may not be present after previous steps) the following files/folders:
ALCXMNTR.EXE <<<--file

To exit Safe Mode, click the Start button, click Turn Off Computer, click Restart.

Reboot, run HJT, if the above are gone, no need to repost with new log.

We have 3 more things to do, to help ensure you have removed all the little 'leftovers' which may be hiding:

Empty the TIF (Temporary Internet Files)
Delete all the files in (and any subfolders of) the C:\Windows\Temp folder
The app below will help with temp files.
Index.dat Suite

Also, delete all your cookies, and empty your recycle bin. But remember, by deleting your cookies, you will have to re-enter any passwords and log-in info for any sites you are usually required to do so with.

This would also be a good time to set a new system restore point for your machine.
Set New System Restore Point. Do not do this unless there are no other user accounts to be diagnosed.

Also, as you are an XP user, if there are any other accounts on this machine, they too, must be cleaned with AdAware, Spybot S&D, then HJT. Not all infections are global, nor are all the HJT fixes global. You can post each user account here into this thread, but please, do only one at a time to avoid confusion.

Now that you have regained control of your machine, lets keep it clean. Please follow the links below to ensure the highest possible level of protection against any further invasions. The links and the apps are some of the most highly regarded apps in the field of security/protection & detection. Run AdAware & Spybot at least once a week, depending on your surfing habits.
Spybot Search & Destroy v1.3
Ad-Aware SE

With AdAware and Spybot: DL, check for updates, then scan, repair/remove/quarantine anything found. Reboot before next scan with whichever app is next.

Spyware Blaster & Spyware Guard
Both of these apps prevent installation of nasties and are proactive.
With Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard, just DL, check for updates, enable protection, and your done!

To prevent known malware infested sites from loading in IE install IESPY ADS.
And MVPS Hosts File will accomplish a similar tactic.

And to prevent unknown applications from being installed on your machine inistall WinPatrol.

You asked if I was experiencing problems..because my log didn't indicate much. I did follow your recommendations and I have pasted latest log below. Seems like all is fixed. However, the problem. The following errors started me down this path. And I am still getting them.

I couldn't find how to add an attachment of the screen shot, but its a windows error...lists the guilty application, such as, svghost.exe - application error. With the big red button with a "x". And it always says....."the instruction at (numbers) referenced memory at ( numbers). The memory could not be read. Click okay or cancel.

I started getting this error a few weeks ago, and it was always a IE browswer error while on the internet. But it would close, I would restart IE and continue without issue.

Of late I get it with smc.exe and now svghost.

Now I think its related, while HP support was troubleshooting this...they sent me to Sygates website.

Where I found out that it seems like the executable for Sygate, my firewall, seems to have been HiJacked?

Any- way I had to uninstall it, as it would make my system unresponsive while it was running, checking my permissions.

OK, firstly, the smc.exe is legit, why your getting any erros regarding it, are beyond me. I would uninstall it, then re-install and see if that goes away.

Now, svghost, on the other hand is indeed a bad file, related to the W32.Spybot Worm.

If you can, please provide a screenshot of the error, I have instructions below to get that done.

I pasted the errors below - as you suggested.
As you can see the smc.exe (sygate) error, is the same for svghost, and the one for IE error. They all talk about referenced memory, and can't read it. And the first errors of this type started with Internet Explorer??

I would not run without a firewall up, unless your only on a few minutes at a time, its too risky, especially if you have DSL or cable.

I would uninstall that McAfee and reinstall something else in its place until we get the error figured out.

Zone Alarm is one of the most popular, its free and easy to use.

Hi there, sorry it took me so long to get here.

I'd like you to try running a full system scan with your AV app (NAV) in safe mode:
Reboot into safe mode by tapping F8 at boot, then use the up/down arrows to select safe mode

Then reboot to normal and run a couple of online scans:
Please go to at least two of these sites and run an online Virus Scan.
Be sure to have the AutoFix box(es) checked.
