In am a newcommer to the antispyware forums but have been working in the field for some time as I support Home Offices with their computer needs.
I have been using the Adaware -SpyBot Search and Destroy combo together with ZoneAlarm with anti virus as the most efective and stable combination for some time.
Given up on Norton 2004. Found it got corrupted to often and made the computers behave oddly including blocking certain sites like MSN.
About a mont ago tried Webroot Spysweeper and found that it did a decent job of cleaning up spyware. However I must warn that it can also destabilize Windows Explorer under Windows XP to such an extent that the later program becomes useless. Trying to look up properties for a file will make it crash as will trying to copy a file. It gives a series of error messages mostly re Windows Explorer but including some that refer to Internet Explorer. The problems diapeared once Spy Sweeper was uninstalled. _________________ WALK! I had the same problem. In my case it turned out to be the setting
"Add sweep for spyware to Windows Explorer context menu".
Once i unchecked this setting, Explorer was working fine again.
