Hey, does anyone know how to make a moving gif out of a .avi file, or .mpg or something like that? Thanks!

Jasc's Paint Shop Pro comes with Animation Shop, which you can use to make gifs. I don't know about the .avi or .mpg files though.
You might need something like Macromedia's Flash for that. _________________ Former Microsoft MVP 2005-2009, Consumer Security

Suzi is right about using flash instead of gifs. If you have many frames, a gif would get too weighty in a hurry and the lack of quality in gif speaks for itself. An example of avi2swf is here; http://www.voiceofthepublic.com/SSD/SI/teatimer.swf.html I did the capture and avi2swf convert with a tool called CamStudio2.0 It's the last clean freeware version. You can as of right now still get a copy here; http://www.markkulehtola.net/freeware.html It's over 9megs.
If you don't need thousands of frames processed, you can load avi into 3D GIF Designer. 3DG is also a freeware no longer supported as they have also gone shareware. However you can still get a copy here; http://www.sover.net/%7Ewysiwygx/Graphics.html This is a very neat app. It lets you create anis using sprite and motion control rendering. Very nice set of built-in FX too. |

Those look great Miley. Thanks for the links. I'm downloading the CamStudio2.0 right now.
There's a number of apps on that page that look good. Have you used any of the PDF apps? I'd be interested in something that can convert text and Word documents into PDF. I know ScanSoft's PaperPort does that, but it's about $100. _________________ Former Microsoft MVP 2005-2009, Consumer Security

Almost forgot! In order to get your DV prepared for conversion, you'll need an editor; http://www.virtualdub.org/
Suzi, sorry, I don't do PDF.
If you want to convert pdf2swf, I have heard that this works; http://www.quiss.org/swftools/ |
