Hi all, just wondered if someone can offer any advise.....I recieved the e-mail below from a friend of mine, but as I don't use incredimail, hard for me to supply an answer........

Malc
you seem to know more about PC's than we do, what does this mean ?
I use incredimail to send my messages and this is what Ruth just sent me(Cherie is her daughter)
I don't know what's going either, all I know is that I noticed the warning on the one Cherie sent me and I noticed it was from Incredimail, a box comes up on the e mail and says there secured and unsecured information on this e mail then there are three boxes to click on one is show unsecured info, don't show unsecured info and don't do anything at all. So, if I hit don't show unsecured info I don't get anything that is sent. After seeing that on Cherie's e mail, when you sent the one with the garden pix it came up on that one and also on this one to. On this one I hit don't show unsecured and your whole message didn't show so I hit show it and I got the message. Don't ask me what's going on as this is all new to me.
Does this mean I have a virus,or a chance to pass one on, or is it because Incredimail can be a "collector " of info from your PC???????

Hope it makes some kind of sence to you guys.....
I am new to this site and have only just got started on reading the posts...but already got good info from you....so thanks and keep up the good work.
I found this site while looking into 'HijackThis'...so I have submitted my log under the heading DSO....

Thanks Malc, I will await your reply if anyone can help.
Yes when Ruth opens "do nothing"she will get my message,if she hits the choices I fwd to you (in her message to me),she will not get the message.

Sorry, still doesn't make sence to me.....

Hi malc51,
Take a look here: http://spywarewarrior.com/viewtopic.php?t=4101&highlight=incredimail
As for that email it doesn't make much sense, but it's really been a while since I dumped Incredimail.
My email clients are really secure and can't be compared to Incredimail, which I find bloatware. IMO _________________ Brabantse Leeuw | Eendracht maakt macht |

That's an interesting thread at Wilders. I find incredimail extremely annoying and would never use it or recommend it. _________________ Former Microsoft MVP 2005-2009, Consumer Security

Incredimail is truly obnoxious. As a wide-eyed newbie,I recall being seduced by it.
Lost count of the number of times it crashed itself or windows.Uninstalled it a week later and reformatted. You will never manage to clean up the residue it leaves behind.
Personal information harvesting aside,as you know,it is produced by an Israeli company.
Is it a coincidence that during the major "netsky" outbreak a few months back, the account I used at the time Incredimail was installed became filled with virus-laden attachments, all with a .il suffix?
No company ever got given that e-mail addy by me.My friends are on Linux and Mac.Impossible that they were infected and the virus harvested my addy.
To this day,I get spam in that account.Only this evening I found:
3 Unread Normal Aug 16 19:17 18k Roderick Lipschitz Primary source of OEM Adobe, Windows ...
an e-mail offering cracked software, which I naturally deleted without opening.(Yes,it was perfectly addressed to me.Not one of those blank "to" chancers).
We could epostulate over bots and spiders, but I'm inclined toward the simple view.Incredimail shares data.
It somehow records whichever address you are using in the programme, storing it for future sale. |
