People have said that SpySweeper is free, but I think it's free as a trial only, isn't it ?

Yes, thats correct, and the free trial is not the current build either, its 2.6 I want to say, but not sure. The latest build has a regisrty alerter in it, much like AdAwatch in AdAware and Tea Timer in Spybot.
So now, whenever I make any changes, I get 3 alerts!!! lol

You meant that AdAware and Spybot aren't totally free either ?

No no, basic AdAware is free, but if you upgrade to AdAwarePlus, you get AdAwatch. Spybot is completely free tho.
