On the recommendation of this site I downloaded SpywareBlaster from Javacool. I know it works a bit like the immunize feature in Spybot S&D. However I have been informed it doesn't do much for the Opera browser. I use Opera a lot, does this mean that it will not protect the computer I am using when I use this browser?
Also, does SpywareBlaster have any other security benefits? |

Essentially, the way Spyware Blaster works is to put a large number of known risky sites into the Restricted Sites zone in Internet Explorer, so that if you land on one of those sites then a number of scripting and other options are disabled, making it harder for them to infect you.
If you're not using IE as your browser, there's little point in having Spyware Blaster installed. _________________ Gary R Administrator at Malware Removal University

Essentially if you have IE installed and never use it except for windows updates you still need to lock down IE and spyware blaster can be a big help as some malware starts IE weather you want it started or not.
How many sites do you go to that requie active-x or IE to run?
since spywareblaster takes no resources if you have ie installed- why not the extra layer of protection
Active-x blocking is in addition to the restricted sites list
Advanced windows care is another option andthere are other active x and restricted sites sources including immunize from Spybot |

| Thanks for the info, SB also protects SeaMonkey & Firefox as well. I use SeaMonkey quite a bit, so I think it is useful. |
