We are currently using McAfee Total Protection on our computer but are not entirely pleased with it. We had a trojan slip by McAfee a few weeks ago. It was picked up by an Ad-Aware on demand scan.
Is this a fairly common thing to happen with any of the security softwares out there?
I was impressed by the statement in the testing article on this website that Panda was able to pick up 100% of the spyware on the test computer. Yet when I looked on cnet, they do not recommend Panda.
Does anyone have any experience with Panda 2008 antivirus/antispyware?

If even Ad-Aware can nab it, well, that's a bit of a situation.

It shouldn't be fairly common for Trojans to slip by your protection. You might need to step it up a notch. If you're looking to buy high-grade protection, after your subscription runs out, I nominate Kaspersky, and NOD32 for candidates.

I don't have any experience with Panda, though, sorry.

Thank you for your advice. I have read that Kapersky is awfully slow. Of course it would be worth being slower if it does a better job.
The other one you mentioned I read was recommended for advanced users. That would definately not be me.

Hi lhs75,

Welcome! I moved your thread to the more appropriate forum. Kaspersky is great for detection. It doesn't seem slow to me -- it may depend on the machine you're running it on. Nod32, Bit Defender, AntiVir and Kaspersky are top AVs IMO.

Thank you for your help and suggestions, Suzi. I will probably be trying a trial version of Kaspersky soon if they offer a trial version. Sorry I posted that question in the incorrect forum. I am a bit new at this.

No problem. Smile Kaspersky does have a trial version, good for 30 days.
