| My computer speakers are not working at all. A few weeks ago my computer started freezing and I used macafee virtual tech. and it helped but did not solve problem. My computer seemed to be running slower and it would occasionaly freeze. I was told by someone to remove google and yahoo tool bars and so I did ant that may have solved the freezing problem but not sure. Then last week the speakers completely went out. What do I do now about the speaker problem. I have dell xp. thanks, charley |

As far as the speakers are concerned, before doing anything, if you have them try;
1. A different set of speakers or;
2. A pair of headphones
If you still do not get any sound, try uninstalling then re-installing your sound card drivers (make sure you have the sound card drivers before doing anything - these will be located on your Dell recovery CD)
If you need advice on how to uninstall and re-install the sound card drivers, please let us know.
As far as the slow computer is concerned, please see;

| I folowed your advice and found that when I used headphones the speakers still did not work. Also I found the driver or cd called sound blaster and started to uninstall to reinstall the sound card, however after 99% uninstall/repair/reinstall it called for disc 1. The title of the pop up was "set up needs the next disk, please insert disk 1 that contains the file Setup.ini." This confused me because there was only one disk with Sound Blaster on it. What do you suggest I do now. I did select repair instead of uninstall....did that have something to do with it? Thank you for your advise! charley |

Please identify the soundcard you are using (there are several hundred models for SoundBlaster);

Once the soundcard has been identified, we can help you download the latest drivers from the manufacterer. _________________ Regards

If you mean the title of the cd it is "Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS", also some other identifying marks on the cd are: P/N #P7678 A01-00, SB 0358, Win 2K/XP, Build Version: 5.12.04.0445. copy write 2004 Creative Technology.
Thanks, Charley |

| At the given web site was a download. I tried to run it ... but after all was done ..........no sounds from speakers. At the beginning of download a pop up box asked if I wanted to run or save this file. Does it matter? Do I remove the program Sound Blaster first through the Add/Remove button in control panel? Today I may try to save the download to see if that makes a diffference. Thanks, charley |

1. Download (Save) the file to your computer
2. Remove the current SoundBlaster installation using Add/Remove Programs
3. Install the newly downloaded file _________________ Regards

If re-installing the drivers did not work, my next step would be to try a different sound card .... _________________ Regards
