My Window is XP
When I click on the "Turn Off Computer" option, nothing happens. No error message appears It stays the same. It only hibernates when I press on the Power button. |

Try this:
Go to the Start menu, select Run and then enter:
sfc /scannow
then press enter
this will scan for any corrupted or missing system files and replce them with the original versions
if after restarting windows and trying to shut down again you still can't shut down then if you have an original windows cd then you can do a repair install of windows. If you have purchased a brand name PC however you more than likely only have a restore/recovery cd and you're out of luck...
Anyway visit this link http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm for instructions for doing a repiar install
One more thing to try:
Make sure you have all the latest windows updates installed from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
If you still have problems post here again and I'll see what I can do to help |

I tried scan for corrupted files, but no hope.
My XP was already installed on the computer when I bought it.
I always have the latest updates from Microsoft.
The thing is:
-- None of the options works when I try it from START menu (shut down, restart, Log Off...), none works.
-- But when I tried Art + Ctrl + Del and click "Log off" from the option box, it worked. After the profile is logged off, I can click "shut down" from the screen |
