Notes: Six AskJeeves apps (three of them browser toolbars) were installed onto a test computer. Twelve anti-spyware applications were then run, all with the latest publicly available program versions and definitions for those products. No removals were performed.

Scan notes:

  • CounterSpy detected MyWebSearch as both "MyWebSearch" and "FunWebProducts," presenting an default action of "Quarantine" for the first and "Ignore" for the second. CounterSpy also detected MySearch Bar as "MySearch Bar Browser Plugin" as well as "MySearch Bar Adware," presenting a default action of "Quarantine" for the first and "Remove" for the second. Finally, CounterSpy detected some FunWeb Registry entries as "iWon Co-Pilot Browser Plugin," presenting a default action of "Quarantine." Sunbelt reports that it will be changing all detected Ask Jeeves products to a default action of "Ignore," as recommended in its white paper [PDF] on Ask Jeeves. It also reports that iWon Co-pilot will be dropped from CounterSpy's detections.
